First aid training for community health workers at Silhapathar
Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) conducted two-days-long training on first-aid and herbal medicine on April 4-5 at Silapather. The training is part of the ongoing project “Restoration and Reconstruction of Flood Affected Community of Assam” which is supported by MISEREO.
18 community health workers attended the training. Dilip Mili of Rural Volunteer Center imparted training on first aid and Phuleswar Chutia, a well-known herbal practitioner shared about use of herbal medicine.
The primary objective of the training was to capacity enhancement of community health worker on first aid and to generate awareness on use of different locally available herbal medicine especially during the time of flood. The training also focused on preservation of significant herbs which is gradually disappearing due to erosion and high amount of sand deposition.
