The Inter Agency Group (IAG), Jorhat, organised a training programme on Community Feedback Mechanism and humanitarian programme planning at The Skyline Central, Jorhat, on Friday, with support from Roots to Branches Foundation and UNICEF, in association with the Jorhat District Administration.

More than 15 organisations, including civil society groups, humanitarian agencies and representatives of disaster-affected communities, participated in the programme, which focused on strengthening accountability and community engagement in disaster response.

IAG Jorhat convenor Tirtha Prasad Saikia stressed the need for coordinated humanitarian action involving civil society organisations, government departments and affected communities.

Ronney Rajkumar, District Project Officer of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Jorhat, facilitated a session on community feedback mechanisms. Humanitarian practitioner Nishant Buragohain discussed accountability and community engagement, while UNICEF technical consultant Andrio Naskar shared approaches to strengthening feedback systems in humanitarian programmes.

Participants also discussed post-disaster recovery needs and the importance of accessible complaint-handling systems to ensure that affected people can raise concerns and influence decisions on assistance and recovery.

The programme concluded with discussions on follow-up action, with participants emphasising locally led humanitarian responses and the integration of community feedback into programme planning and implementation.
