Mission Rabies to vaccinate 50000 dogs across India
Mission Rabies is going to to vaccinate 5000 dogs in Guwahati this September (Between 15th to 28th September 2013). The campaign is being led by Indian NGOs under the banner of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), Dr. Sashanka Sekhar Dutta of this initiative said: “We are very fortunate that Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department of Assam, Guwahati Municipal Corporation, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara & Kamrup District Administration has came forward & join hands with JBF in making the mission a success.” Mission Rabies official launch took place on Saturday 1st September in Goa, with simultaneous events taking place at the other southern checkpoints, generating much interest within the Indian media. Today is 11th Day of vaccination and the results are still coming in, with total 24016 dogs vaccinated till yesterday! Mission Rabies will deliver 50,000 doses of canine rabies vaccine at locations across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and culminating in Assam on World Rabies Day on Saturday 28th September.
