The programme, backed by a financial commitment of approximately ₹35.99 lakh, aims to improve employment prospects for unemployed and underemployed youth, particularly those from Project Affected Villages and neighbouring communities in Kokrajhar district.

Under Project SAKSHAM, the selected trainees will receive structured instruction in Polymer Science and Processing at CIPET Guwahati. The training will cover polymer materials, processing technologies, quality control, industrial safety and related applications, combining classroom learning with practical sessions and industry exposure.
The programme also includes career guidance and placement assistance to help participants pursue employment in the polymer, plastics and allied manufacturing sectors.
During the ceremony, officials interacted with the trainees about their educational backgrounds and career aspirations. They encouraged the participants to approach the training with dedication and discipline, highlighting the importance of technical competence and adaptability in the industrial sector.
The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping local youth with industry-relevant technical skills. It also aims to expand access to specialised vocational training in Kokrajhar and the wider Bodoland Territorial Region.
NTPC Bongaigaon said the initiative aligns with the Government of India's Skill India Mission and the Sustainable Development Goals concerning quality education, decent work and economic growth, and reduced inequalities.
