Raha youth stages silent protest for AIIMS

Raha youth stages silent protest for AIIMS

Inspired by the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Violence  doctrines of Ahimsa and Satyagraha, a youth of  Raha sits for a ‘ silent peotest ’ on Friday morning at Raha chariali for an idefinite period.

The youth named Dibyajyoti Bora, a resident of ward no. 4 of the Raha town stages his silent protest to press his demand, on behalf of the masses of Raha, for an AIIMS here.

Talking to Assam Times, on the sideline of the event spot before the protest began, the youth said, ” We, the people of Raha , are being cheated by the central government as well as the state government by not declaring whether AIIMS hospital would be set up at Raha or not even after inspecting the site here three times. My purpose for this ‘ silent protest’ is that I request both the governments  to make their stands clear on the issue or we should not be hanged in the balance by giving a false hope by the authority concerned.”

He further added, “ I would appeal to the authority to set up the AIMS at Raha as the town is  able to easily serve the population of many districts including Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Sonitpur, North Lakhimpur and states like Nagaland, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh.”
