Rise of criminal activities in Dhubri

After the sudden transfer of the Superintendent of Police (S.P.) of Dhubri before election Deepak Choudhary, all types of criminal activities are on the rise after Pradip Kr Saloi, the ex-city S.P. took charge, people felt.

Ex-SP Choudhary had able to curb all types of illegal gambling counters of the town during his short tenure of fourteen months. But now more then 60 counters of Ending (last number game) are reopened across all the major locations of the town right under the nose of the police. Illicit country liquor business is also in rise. Banpar (behind Dhubri Town Congress Office) and BOC (Near ASEB) of the town again become the hot spot of such business. It is alleged that the police is silent as percentage from these mafias reaches daily to the police headquarter.

The entire matter was also brought before the newly appointed SP of Dhubri, Pradip Kr Saloi during a police-public meeting held at the Dhubri Sadar police Station Auditorium few months ago and then he gave the assurance to control such illicit businesses of the district. But the conscious citizens of Dhubri have felt that no steps is taken yet.

People of the town are also criticizing the role of so called social activates and NGOs of the town because none of them yet get time to raise voice against such illegal trades.
