Rival rendezvous: Brindabon meets Rocky

Rival rendezvous: Brindabon meets Rocky

A sudden rendezvous between two political bigwigs brews a big speculations in state’s pre poll landscape on Sunday suggesting an upcoming bonhomie between two arch rival parties.

The high voltage drama took place at the residence of Rockbul Hussain when AGP architect Brindabon Goswami visited the powerful minister on Saturday night. That too hours after three senior party leaders met Tarun Gogoi’s man-Friday in the morning.

Amid the rising political temperature after Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma’s exit both the leaders are believed to have talked of a solution to firmly take on BJP in the assembly polls early next year.

Talking to the waiting reporters Goswami called it a personal and courtesy visit. But the grapevine in Dispur suggests a soon-to-be struck political deal between AGP and Congress. The deal is expected to pay dividend right from the Tiwa autonomous council formation as the party falls short of only a seat while the regional party has begged three seats.

Notably, AGP targeted BJP more than Congress in the recent assembly session alleging somersaults on many issues confronting the state. On the other hand, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is waiting to hear from APCC president Anjan Dutta and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who are meeting her on Wednesday.
