3 students flee school hostel in Tangla
TANGLA: Three students of Don Bosco High School in Tangla here fled from their hostel on Tuesday last which has created palpable sensation among the boarders of the school and the guardians of the missing students. While one of the students,school authorities,informed were traced from Harisinga railway station area the same day,the other two are untraceable.Of the one hundred thirty enrolled in the boarding school,three students were out from their school for shopping and didn't return back."Many students buy necessary items from outside stores and we permit them as they return back in time but the students of eight standard didn't return back following which we registered an F.I.R at Tangla P.S, Rector cum Parish Priest, Fr. Marcus Lakra told Assam Times. Dominick Moshahary, father of one of the missing child, said that incident is a clear case of security lapse by the school management. “There should have been proper security arrangements for the safety of our children. We admitted our wards in this school to see progress in their education,” he said. The parents also alleged that the school authorities should have maintained entry exist registers of boarders.

UDALGURI: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of newspaper reports of the alleged incident of police atrocities on a doctor in Chirang district on Friday.
AHRC has issued a notice to the District Magistrate, Chirang to cause an inquiry into the incident where media reports stated that the Officer-in-Charge of Amguri PS in Chirang District not only assaulted Dr. Madhurjya Kakati, in-charge of the Amteka Mini PHC but also made him to kneel down along with two others for not wearing masks.

TANGLA: A devastating inferno gutted six houses in Pujakhola locality of Tangla town on Tuesday night at about 9 pm.
Though the source of the fire has not been ascertained ,fire broke out followed by explosion of six cylinders razing the properties worth lakhs to the ground within minutes.
The house belongs to Fakira Ansari, Manik Ali,Bhim Ram,Raj Kumar Prasad,Akon Rabha and Sankar Basfor.

UDALGURI: A baby hog deer weighing about six kilogram was rescued by Mithu Sarkar and Ankit Tanti, two activists of Green Valley Wild Life Protection Society, an NGO of Orongajuli tea estate area today at about 3.00 pm and handed over this to the Udalguri forest department in a healthy condition.
While talking to this correspondent, Mithu Sarksr informed that the NGO has been instrumental to rescue young ones of hog deers, wild elephants, tiger cubs in the near past too and till date, it has been able to rescue such animals which came to their notice.

TANGLA, May 20: In an unfortunate turn of event a 32 year old reputed businessman Roshan Patowary an inhabitant of Ward No. 4 of Tangla town in Udalguri district was electrocuted to death while fitting an inverter battery at his residence at about 8 pm on Tuesday night.
