KOKRAJHAR: A general meeting of the Kokrajhar district unit of All Assam Minority Students Union(AAMSU) was held at Baruapara LP school on Saturday. The meet chaired by Mafush Hussain,president of the Kokrajhar disrict unit AAMSU discussed at length about the organisational activities towards the welfare of the students as well social upliftment of the people of religious minority community in the region.A new regional unit, Baruapara regional unit of the All Assam Minority Students Union(AAMSU) was formed on the day to work for the welfare of the students with Kanijul Islam as president and Shahjahan Ali and Mijanur Rahman as secretaries along with 41 executive members.Among others,Safikul Sheik,secretary of Kokrajhar district unit AAMSU,Kurdosh Ali attended the meeting.

The incident occurred when villagers attempted to repel the bison, which had strayed into the human settlement from the nearby Ripu-Chirang Reserve Forest under Haltugaon forest division.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
