BTC summer session concludes

Kokrajhar: The summer session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly was concluded today with a day programme scheduled being held at BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar. 

The session began with question hour questioned by Opposition MCLA Rwngwra Narzary. He has put question on Cultural department uplift in the region and urged the Cultural department to renovate Bodofa Cultural complex with necessary initiative to make proper utilisation. 

Replying to the questions in the house,Cultural affairs in-charge Bonjar Daimary said that the Cultural affairs department has been emphasized the uplift of the Cultural activities by organising cultural exchange programmes, renovation of Bodofa Cultural complex and provinding grants in aids to the ailing artiste and cultural organisers.He has highligthed the cultural integration in the region with organising cultural programmes at various places in four districts of the council. 

The session discussed on various subject and department’s developmental acitivities, apart from Water Resources, Transport, Agriculture, Education,Tourism,Forest,Land and Revenue,Health & Family Welfare,Industry etc which was chaired by Tridiv Daimary, speaker of the BTCLA.

However, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary and two executive members Mritunjyay Narzary and Shyam Sundi were remained absent on the session. 

The BTCLA house has been emphasised over the deep uplift and social integration in the region. 

BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary informed the house that Tourism department was working with dedication to make well great environment in the region.The tourism sector is getting well equip in the region. BTC region has a potentiality of tourism with its own natural resources which attracts foreign tourists and local visitors. The tourism department has been carrying strong initiative to make healthy tourist places at various locations which are gaining up to provide hospitality for the tourists.

Borgoyary has been highlighted the essence of tourists products,which are included paragliding,camel services etc for amusement creation for the tourists and visistors. He said that Manas National Park is getting huge foreign tourists as well local tourists as many new initiatives are taken to attract the tourists.

He said that the session discussed on the various aspects and developmental activities carried out by BTC administration in the region. 

Opposition MCLA Rwngwra Narzary said that the house saw discussed on various developmental activities being initiated by council administration as the opposition members put questions and shared their views about developmental activities. He has urged the BTC administration to take speedy up of welfare schecme and projects which are meant for publics.

AGP to contest in BTC elections

KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections. Speaking the reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Sunday, AGP leader Subir Chakraborty told that his party was fully prepared to contest the council elections due in March-April 2020 under the alliance spirits of BJP-BPF-AGP in the state. He said that seat sharing discussion will be finalised in due time and party is getting several seats.  

National workshop concludes in Bodoland University

KOKRAJHAR: A two-week long national workshop on research methodology was concluded on Friday at Bodoland University in Kokrajhar district. The workshop started from 16th November and organised by the Padmashri Madaram Brahma Central Library, Department of History & Department of Political Science, Bodoland University. 94 research scholars, teachers of various colleges & Universities took part in the workshop from different universities. Social activist Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR: Noted social activist, former leader of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and close associate of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Yamao Jwhwlao Brahma passed away on Wednesday night at a private hospital in Guwahati. Brahma was admitted at the hospital few months back following some illness. He left a son and daughter and his wife. He was 60 Brahma's body was brought to his Tengapara residence in Kokrajhar on Thursday morning and cremated at Tengapara crematorium ground Kokrajhar after performing all rituals in the evening. Journalisn workshop held

A day-long workshop on journalism was held at Bodofa House, Baganshali in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Young journalists from different six districts of the state- Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Udalguri, Baksa, Chirang and Kokrajhar participated the workshop. Goreswar lifts BTAD-Army football premier league

KOKRAJHAR: Goreswar Town Football Club of Baksa beat Udalguri's Bhergaon Football Club 4-0 goals to lift the trophy in the final match of the BTAD-Army football premier league-2019 held at Kokrajhar Govt HS & MP School playground, Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Goreswar, Jegyas Deka netted first goal in 21st minutes. Again, Bimal Boro, Jegyas Deka and Dhiraj Rajbongshi scored one each goal in 37th, 40th and 42nd minutes of the first half that led the team. ABMSU demands for justice to Lafikul murder case

KOKRAJHAR:  A two-hour sit-in-protest dharna was staged on Wednesday at children park near DC office demanding  justice to the Lafikul Islam Ahmed murder case, and stopping increased atrocities on minority community in the name of doubtful D-voters in the state. The All BTC Minority Students Union (ABMSU) has expressed unhappiness over the delay in releasing the investigation reports of the central bureau of investigation (CBI) on the murder of Lafikul Islam Ahmed, former president of the organisation. Review committee visits detention center

KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials. There are 142 inmates including 14 minors are kept in the Kokrajhar detention center. There are six detention centers across the state. KOKRAJHAR: Reiterating the demand for an amicable solution of the Bodoland statehood issue, a mass gathering was organised at Balipara, Sonitpur district on Monday. National Press Day observed in BTAD

KOKRAJHAR: The National Press Day-2019 was observed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday. Kokrajhar Press Club and district administration jointly organised the National Press Day here at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar to mark the national press day. BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced as chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, Borgoyary has highlighted about the importance and responsibilities of the press/media persons in today's life as press media has been regarded forth estate in the country.
