SOS Children's Village Hojai Celebrate 99th Founder's Day

Hojai:-SOS Children's Village Hojai  celebrated SOS Day as a tribute to their Founder Father, Late Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, on Saturday Evening with much fanfare. This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the world in all the children’s villages as ‘SOS Day’.


The celebration marked the 99th birth anniversary of Dr. Gmeiner who was instrumental in laying the foundation of SOS Children's Villages in the world.

The programme began with  lighting  the lamp and floral tribute infront of the potrait of Dr. Hermann Gmeiner  followed by Welcome song sang by a group of Village Children's.

Welcome Speech was delivered by Village Director Paresh Badyakar. He briefly shared about the philosophy of Dr Gmeiner and his lifelong passion for providing loving and caring home to parentless and abandoned children.

 Deputy Commissioner, Hojai, Manvendra Pratap Singh,IAS graced the occasion as chief guest, Superintendent of Police, Hojai Ankur Jain, IPS as guest of honour, Child Welfare Comiittee Chairperson, Chidananda Nath as special invitee and Senior Journalist Ramesh Mundra as special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Manvendra Pratap Singh said," Service's given by SOS Children's Village for humanity are exemplary cannot be compared with anything, it's truly A Loving Home To  Every Child."

SP Ankur Jain said," Each and Every  Children of this Village is lucky enough as they got  good environment, village, house, family, bonding of brother and sister's to live with."

On the dream of Village Director Paresh Badyakar that from SOS Children's village  their should be an IAS/IPS, DC Manvendra Pratap Singh and SP Ankur Jain shared their experience and explained in detail how one can with decidated efforts can achieve their target.

CWC Chairperson Chidananda Nath explained in detail about the rights of Children.

Senior Jounalist Ramesh Mundra said," Since last two decade he is  associated  with SOS children's Village."

"If anyone wants to see Heaven he/she should visit SOS Children's Village once, Children's here are getting proper love, affection, education and every thing which is vital for a child's growth and development." He added.

Senior Journalist, Ramesh Mundra was also honoured in this event for his invaluable contribution toward's society with his writing's and specially highlighting SOS Children's Village activities. He was presented a Certificate of Appreciation, SOS citation, gomsa and bouquet by DC M.P Singh.

 Children who have excelled in HSLC , AHSEC and preparatory classes were feliciated. A cultural programme was organised which saw enthusiastic participation of the children and children's also tried to gave a message To Stop Bullying by their play.

Earlier, Assistant Village Director Chitaranjan Mahantii read the message sent by President Of SOS Children's Village Of India S Sandilya and  General Secretary Mrs. Anuja Bansal.

The celebration was witnessed by over 300 people including the children, mothers, employees and dignitaries.

The Vishal Mega Mart shopping complex opened in Hojai on Monday. Cultural programme, an statue of APJ Abdul Kalam will be unveiled in the school premises. A souveneir will be published on this occasion. Also, all the former teachers will be felicitated during this meet.

Global Hand Washing Day observed in Hojai

Global Hand Washing Day, observed by Small Steps (NGO) and Sos's Children's Village today, at Hojai.Small Steps organised this at Munda Basti, Sankardev Nagar,Hojai among the children's, mother's and young  players of uday sangha of that village.And, Sos's children's Village organised this at their village campus among the children's and thier Co-ordinators.At Munda Basti the programme was intiated by the founder of the organisation Dr. Prodip Kumar Sahoo.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sahoo said,  Global Handwashing Day seeks to raise awarness about the importance of handwashing, and encourage action to promote and sustain handwashing habits. He said, handwashing with soap is...
