Training on school safety held in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR,FEB 8: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in collaboration with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) conducted a 3-day long training programme for school focal point teachers on school safety that wasconcluded on Monday in the conference hall of Chirang Deputy Commissioner's office at Kajalgaon.

The programme was inaugurated by Karmadev Brahma, additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, DDMA, Chirang.

In his key note address, Gautam Talukdar, Deputy Commissioner and chairman, DDMA, Chirang highlighted the importance of conducting such training programme at educational institutions for preparedness against any disaster. He said the basic objective of conducting such training was to empower the school focal point teachers by imparting them the basic knowledge of disaster preparedness for ensuring safety measures in their schools through the effective school disaster plan. He requested all the participants to share their knowledge on disaster management in order to create awareness at their respective schools after the training was over.

Bijay Baishnob, Inspector of School, Chirang also graced the programme as guest. 

The school focal point teachers were imparted training by the resource persons Dipak Talukdar, Asstt. Profesor, DIET, Bongaigaon, Hemachanda Das, Instructor, Normal School, Bongaigaon, Paresh Ch. Sarma and Utpal Bhuyan from the Civil Defense covering the topics such as basic concept of disaster management, National School Safety Policy- 2016, Non- Structural Safety Aspects, Right to Education and preparation of school disaster management plan.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
