North east BJP MPs are worried over the recent “immigrant tag” that sends at a wrong signal for the party in the entire region. Unconditional apology is pouring in from the rank and file of the party. But it seems to have failed to assuage the MPs from the region. They want something more from the party leadership.
“We are really worried. This should not have taken place a year ahead of the Assembly polls in Assam. We are trying to convince our leadership to go extra mile for the region after the blunder,” a BJP MP told Assam Times on request of anonymity.
Another MP from the region said,” Isn’t it an insult? It is shocking indeed. The party leadership must take action against the person responsible for the mishap. Simple apology won’t help us woo the people. But there is no action so far,” rued another leader.
On the other hand, many organizations and parties are still angry with ruling party saying that the party would have to pay heavy price for the lapse.
