Congress and BJP have geared up its civic election campaign for the upcoming Raha town committee poll in ward no.1. In order to woo the 1032 voters of the aforementioned ward both the parties have started door-to-door canvassing besides organizing public meet. In the last civic body election Congress party has won the seat from this ward defeating other political party candidates. This time also Congress party has nominated Dilip Das from this ward aiming to win the seat. It becomes a matter of prestige for the local congress leaders as the said ward is Congress’s dissidence MLA Piyush Hazarika’s home ward. Appealing to vote for him the Congress party nominated candidate has assured to give maximum facilities to the residents of his ward and implementation of different government schemes in his ward.
On the other hand the BJP nominated candidate Dhruba Das has also adopted various strategies to win the seat of this ward. He alleged that the Congress party has spread false hopes and development to the residents of the ward. He pointed out that there was zero development when the ward was representated by congress candidate last time. The residents of this ward did not see any sign of development as the ward has few number of street lights and the roads of the ward still in dilapidated condition, the BJP candidate further alleged. He asked the residents of the ward not to fall prey to false temptations of the opposition and asked to vote for him for all round development of the ward.
The AGP has also nominated a woman candidate Deepti Das Hazarika from this ward. But no remarkable political activities have yet been seen by the AGP candidate comparing to the other two major party candidates in this ward.
