Kokrajhar district sports association (KDSA) and well wishers felicitated Dr Jagadish Basumatary, a member of Assam Everest Expedition-2015 from BTAD region who is scheduled to climb Mount Everest from Assam on and from April 4 next today at KDSA complex at a function in Kokrajhar.
The KDSA members,social organisations including self help groups (SHG) felicitated Dr Basumatary with traditional Aronai,bunch of flowers and wish grand success in his destination and prayed to the almighty. Dr Basumatary, a physician by proffesion is also a member of the expedition of 11 members from across the state who are scheduled to climb Mount Everest from Assam from April 4 next said that eleven members of the state are climbing the mount everest and their journey will start from Guwahati to Nepal, expected their destination will be completed of climbing 29, 000 feets of Mount Everest by first week of June next. He said that state team will score successful step and peoples will get knowledge of climbing situation through the event.
He told that he has experience of hill climbing as he had climbed other hills in the country and expected this time's everest will give a vast experience in his life and he confident that all members will meet healthy successful in climbing.
Among others,Saradha Prasad Paul,secretary of KDSA,noted sports organiers Simson Mushahary,Nikunja Brahma were also present on the function.
China has asked India not to disrupt peace in Arunachal Pradesh a day after a Sukhoi -30 fighter has gone traceless triggering no less tension along the Indo-China border. In his regular briefing on Wednesday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in Beijing that they do not have any information on the fighter plane which has been missing with two pilots on board hours after it took off from Tezpur. Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday vowed to firmly deal with corruption that cripples the public life in Assam. The state election commission in Assam has rescheduled the Karbi Anglong Autonomous council polls to June 17 to get 26 members elected for the 30 member autonomous body. According to the revised schedule, the polling will take place on June 17 from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon and repolling, if need be, will take place on June 20 and he counting is slated for June 22.

The Hamren police in Karbi Anglong on Tuesday have arrested a titular Karbi king acting on a rape charge against him. The victim is a mother of four children whom he raped before asking her not to disclose. According to allegations, the 52 year old titular King Horsingh Ronghang visited her recently at night at raped the 32 year woman and left in the morning.
