BTC election: counting going on
Counting to the 40 member the BTC council election going on starting from 8 am this morning amidth tight security in the four districts.
In Kokrajhar,the counting halls were arranged in three sub-divisions at Kokrajhar,Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora in a vigil security.
Expected that final declaration of the results to the council would be announced by 6 pm.

Security forces claimed to have killed a NDFB-Songbijit cadre in an encounter at Pepsue along the Indo-Bhutan border under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district on Monday evening. Police said that on getting information about presence of the militants at Pepsue area, they raided the area. During exchange of gun fire an NDFB cadre died on the spot. The slain cadre was identified as Praneswar Narzary. A pistol, three live bullets, grenade and magazines were recovered from him.
A person was died on the way for Siliguri hospital for better treatment after a road mishap at Kokrajhar town near Sister Margaret School along the Hatimata Road yesterday evening in Kokrajhar. According to police, two bikes from opposition sites head on collided yesterday at round 7.15 pm near Sister Margaret School along the Hatimata Road in town and bikers from both side received serious injured. Forest officials managed to seize Sal timbers laden in a truck in a regular checking at Dahlapara Toll gate under Bijni sub-division in Chirang district today.Forest officials from Rakaldhubi Beat office getting tiptop information about carrying of timbers checked the truck and recovered the valuable Sal timbers. The truck bearing registration No.WB-CC-7284 was on way to Barpeta carrying illegal Sal timbers from Kokrajhar.The cost of the recovery timbers would be over 12 lakhs. The staffs of the truck were absconded from the spot and truck has been kept at Bongaigaon forest depot office, a forest official informed.

In a major success in the fight against terror, Army troops in a joint operation with Kokrajhar police apprehended one of the close aide of self styled deputy commander-in-chief(c-i-c) Batha of NDFB (S) today from Chetnaguri village in Kokrajhar district.
