Tablet PC distributed

As part of CM's Special Award Scheme, Tablets with Citations were ceremonially distributed to the 2nd Division holders of HSLC and AHM Examinations-2014 today at Kajalgaon High School of Chirang district.

The programme was presided over by the Chirang DC Rupak Kr. Mazumdar and attended by the BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari as chief guest, ADC Dasarat Das, Bijni SDO Civil Oinam Saran Singh, EAC Jitu Kr. Barman, IS Jaypal Sing Brahma and DFO Subha Brahma among others .

Giving away the awards to the students,  the BTC deputy chief and in charge  for Education, Forest and Tourism Departments Borgoyari first of all congratulated the awardees and called upon to be dedicated and sincere in their studies as the competions in present day world among the students in every aspects were getting tougher day by day. "With the help of these Tablets, through internet use the students will enter new world and get the benefit of progressive education", Kampa said. He informed about the steps being taken by the BTC authority since its inception and planing of organising a Seminar on 30th and 31st May at Kokrajhar involving Axom Sahitya Sabha, Bongo Sahitya Sabha, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Santali Sahitya Sabha, Nepali Sahitya Sabha, Students' organisations, Heads of both govt and non-govt institutions, intellectuals, educationists and selected parents of students etc. with a view to upgrading the education scenerio of BTC area. 

In his presidential address, the DC Mazumdar has asked the awardees to utilise the Tablet PCs properly in gathering knowledges for future use. In the programme 444 students, who excelled in the HSLC and AHM examinations-2014 with minimum 50% marks were given away the prizes. In 2013, the Second Division pass percentage was 264 in the district.

Earlier, Kampa Borgoyari was felicitated by the Chirang district Teachers' Association.

Former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma headed as president of the newly formed United Peoples Party (UPP) which was formed today at Dotma in Kokrajhar in a special convention organised by PCDR in Kokrajhar. Rwngwra Narzary, chief coordinator of PCDR announced the names of the newly formed party where noted former Absu leader Pradip Kumar Daimary was selected as general secretary.The party has eyed equal distribution and progress of the society in coming days.  
The Peoples Cordination for Democratic Rights (PCDR ) has decided to form new political party in the state to facilitate peoples development and integration among various society.The PCDR hold its special convention at Dotma ground today in Kokrajhar where an unanimously resolution was adopted in the delegate session to for new political party in the state. Kokrajhar police apprehended six linkmen of NDFB-S from Aflagaon area under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district today. Police arrested the linkmen following case registered with Serfanguri PS numbering 77/15 for extending support hardcore Ndfb-s cadre Sankhang in the area for a kidnapping in subversive activities in the run up Independence day celebration. The arrested were produced to court and remanded for 5 days for police custody. They have been identified as Lukuram Basumatary, Boldi Basumatary, Rwmwi Basumatary, Chiranjit Basumatary, Bonus Kumar Brahma and Sudem Basumatary. 
Security forces belonging to the army and police apprehended two cadres of National Santal Liberation Army(NSLA) rebels  from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar district today.Sources said based on inputs, a joint operation was launched by the army and police in Karigaon area and apprehended two NSLA rebels. The arrested rebels were identified as  Manoj Soren, 18, of Bamungaon and Barka Tudu, 20, of Lauripara, both in Chirang district. Two country made pistols, three live rounds, extortion receipt, two khukris, one mobile with two SIM cards were recovered from them.
Kokrajhar police arrested four persons including a medical staff, who  are illegally involved with racket of fake birth certificate selling among publics to extend support while filling up of NRC updating in the district.  SP Saikia, Superintendent of Police, Kokrajhar while addressing the reporters today at his office chamber said that police administration had taking stern action against fake birth certificate selling among common publics that are being used in the filling up of NRC updating in the district. Police apprehended a suspected NDFB-S linkmen identified as Milon Brahma of Dotma Sikhargaon in connection with extortion call made to the headmaster of Banargaon High school demanding Rs 5 lakhs in the name of NDFB-S today in Kokrajhar. Police said he was arrested and a case registered at Dotma police station with case number 28/15 u/s 120(b)/121(a)/122/387/506 IPC. Police said the arrested person confessed of his crime. 
BJP seems to have landed in trouble at least in the Koch Rajbangshi-dominated areas. The Biswajit Roy faction of the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union has threatened to ban BJP if it fails to ensure ST status for the ethnic community before the assembly polls. Kokrajhar police have arrested two persons for allegedly issuing fake birth certificates to be used for NRC purpose.Identified as Zhumor Ali and Jahirul Sheik of Ghoramara, they were caught on Saturday for issuing fake birth certificatesThe duo were held after registering cases bearing No 638/15 U/S 471/468 IPC. Ali confessed that the fake birth certificates were supplied from Hekomod Ali of Gjoramara to make money.
