Highway blockade for ST status

The road communication along the 31 (C) National Highway was disrupted on Thursday following blockade by Adivasi National Convention Committee (ANCC) at Karigaon of Kokrajhar district, demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST ) status and solutions to the Adivasi militants groups through negotiation. 

Thousands of activists and common publics from community along with banner, placards thronged the highway and blockade the road communication and demanded early granting of ST status to the Adivasis and solve of militancy issues which was startestart from 9 am . However, district administration later urged the agitators to lift up blockade and lifted the blockade after 12.

The ANCC later submited a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner seeking early inclusion into ST status of Adivasis and issues of militants who are in ceasefire with govt.
