Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.
Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.
He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted Assam and parts of eastern region on Wednesday. The earthquake measuring 6.5 in the Rickhter scale was felt at 9.55 at night spreding panic among the people. As the quake originated on the bay of Bengal struck, a section of the people came out to the street fearing a devastating turn.
The death toll in the Dhupdhora truck-winger collision has gone up to 11. Eight people including Singer Sumanta Mahanta died on the spot. The others succumbed to their injuries after they were rushed to the hospital. The incident took place at Dhupdhora on the National Highway when the Guwahati bound winger carrying a 15 member cultural troup collided its head on a speeding truck which later managed to flee from the spot.
At least nine people were killed and five others sustained serious injury when a truck collided its head on a winger in Goalpara district on Wednesday. The tragic mishap took place at Dhupdhara at 5.30 in the morning on the National Highway where the 15 seater vehicle carrying a cultural troup from a function at Matia. Eight people include singer Sumanta Mahanta died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The truck managed to flee from the spot. Local residents in large number came to the rescue and rushed the injured to the hospital.
