Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.

Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.

He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.

Group clash in Goalpara: 1 killed

An uneasy situation is prevailing in Goalpara following a group clash that left one person killed and several others injured on Monday.The incident took place at Potharkuwa when a group of miscreants sprang upon section of people when they were taking out a procession during holi celebration in the afternoon.Police arrived in the spot and resorted to firing to disperse the mob. Later more policemen were rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control.  

CM campaigns in Nagaon

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday participated two huge poll rallies in Nagaon and Koliabor on behalf of Jonjunali Baruah and Gaurav Gogoi who are contesting in the Lok Sabha polls slated for April 7, 12 and 24.In his speech, Gogoi strongly criticized BJP and AGP saying that only Congress can ensure sustainable development in the country.Thousands of people were waiting for listen to Gogoi on the roadsides as the chief minister was travelling to Guwahati to Jorhat by car for the first time in the last 10 years.

AIUDF announces 3 candidates

The opposition AIUDF on Monday has announced three more candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.The party has fielded Dr Pervez Ahmed Ali from Silchar while Viyay Tiru will contest from Koliabor. The party will contest in Tezpur with Sheikh Aziz.The party is expected to announce other candidates in a day or two. The party has so far announced nine candidates for the polls.

Ravaging fire in Guwahati

Properties worth one crore have been reduced to ashes when a devastating fire engulfed a lodged in Guwahati on Monday.The incident took place at 2 in the afternoon in Birubari because of a cylinder explosion. Within a short period of time, the fire ravaged the lodge along with a four wheeler.    Fire tenders arrived in the spot. But by then the fire took its massive turn. The extent of loss is yet to be assessed.    

Poacher held

Police have arrested an infamous poacher from Gohpur on Monday.Identified as Hemram Pegu, he was involved in the recent rhino poaching in the Jobora chapori inside the Kaziranga national park.He, however, is believed to have confessed that he sold the horn at Dimapur. Police interrogation is going on.

BJP expert in marketing: Gogoi

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday slammed Narendra Modi alleging BJP was expert in packaging and marketing.Releasing the white paper on the central assistance to the state during the UPA and NDA governments at the Centre, Gogoi said that the state received only 13,000 crore from the centre during the NDA government at the Centre.He said that amount of central assistant during the UPA government is  Rs 24,000 crore.
