The flood scene in West Garo Hills deteriorates further in the face of more rains that lashed Meghalaya. Major rivers stated flowing above the danger levels following non stop rains during the last 48 hours.
Continuous landslide wreaks no less havoc in Tura. The worst-hit areas include Upper Chandmary where a portion of the road was washed away near Gandrak waterfall and at Babupara.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said that disaster management team has been on alert across the district. He advised the schools to remain shut till Friday.
On Tuesday, a schoolgirl had gone missing from Asibra village, near Rongram in West Garo Hills. Locals say that she was washed away in the currents of Ganol river. The rescue team is yet to locate the nine-year-old girl.
