BTC executive member for Public Health Engineering department Lwmsrao Daimary laid foundation stone for construction of Director cum CHD office building of  PHE department at PHE office complex in Kokrajhar town today. 

The office building would be constructed at an amounting of 2.60 crores under BTC (AOP) of 2015-16 financial year where director cum CHD office,Kokrajhar division-1 of PHE and Subdivisional of PHE would be attached, besides official facilities like conference hall, complex will also be available. 

Daimary laying foundation stone said that BTC administration has bed  stepping to meet up of drinking water facilities among common citizens in the region through proper functioning of the water supply schemes. 

He said that PHE department has stressed to revive defunct water supply projects in the entire council and proper implementation of the needs of the supplying waters would be sounded so that publics can get available of the drinking water. 

'Supllying of drinking waters among common public was the prime job of the concern department to bringing of healthy health among citizens',Daimary added. 

Among others, BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary and officials were also present on the occasion. 

Daimary further laid foundation stone to construct office of the deputy commissioner of Excise cum CHD and superintendent of excise at Dimalgaon in Kokrajhar. The office would be constructed at an amounting of 1.72 crore.

BJP leader quits

Former president of Kokrajhar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, Binati Bala Basumatary resigned from her party membership on Monday.  Basumatary submitted her resignation letter to the state party president citating personal reason . She was Kokrajhar district BJP president for 2011-2015, who had gained strength of the party through her strong leadership in the district. Basumatary's quit of the party ahead assembly election would draw a set back party strength in the Kokrajhar. Basumatary is likely to join ruling BPF party within couple of days, said a close aid of Binati. 

NDFNB(S) ultras held

Three cadres of the NDFB(S) were arrested by security forces in a joint operation belonging to police and army at Hakata village under Barama PS in Baksa district on Sunday. The cadres were identified as Jwangsar Boro @ KK, Mohit Mushahary and Pramod Ramchiary @ Khankari @Raja   of Baksa district. They were actively involved in extortion, arms smuggling and other nefarious and anti national activities and Adivasi carnage in December(2014) and had run away and sheltered themselves in Chennai, till their return. Two pistols along with 4 live rounds, a hand grenade and three mobile phones were recovered from them. Mohit Misahary is a cadre of 39 Batch NDFB and trained in Myanmar.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. They were identified Sanjib Basumatary, Mirga Basumatary and Charan Basumatary. They were involved with extortion, collecting money and providing information to militants about movement of security forces. Fakiragram bazar turn into ashes

Over 15 shops along the Fakiragram main Bazar in Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district have turned into ashes.  The fire damaged worth of nearly 50 lakhs properties following fire in gutted on Friday late night. Businessman attacked

A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. He was identified as Tamizaddin Anza ri (32) of Mozabari area. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital and stated to be critical. Details is awaited.
