Adivasi Mahasabha concludes

The Magurmari High School ground in Kokrajhar fell silent as the 12th Adivasi Mahasabha session concluded on Sunday. Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Dr Rameswar Oraon attended the open session after BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary inaugurated it. In his speech, Mohilary said that BPF wants ST status for the Adivasi community in the state along with five other ethnic communities. He said that his party has been pressurizing the Centre for it.

Dr Oraon said that hoped that the Centre would grant ST status to all the 6 ethnic communities. MPs Biswajit Daimary, Shantiuse Kujur, MLAsPramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma, Lawrence Islary were prominent among those who attended the open session.

 The two member of a family were killed when lightning struck them on Friday morning at Taigirguri village under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district. Athem Narzary and his son Mithunjoy were ploughng in the paddy field when they were struck by lightening seriously injuring them. Several students unions including All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), AKRSU and ABMSU urges the district administration to release arrested students in connection with unruly incidents at BPF party office in Kokrajhar on Saturday without any condition and demanded proper investigation into incident. Police apprehended 22 students including involved persons with the unrully incidents yesterday at BPF party office in Kokrajhar.
