Adivasi Mahasabha concludes

The Magurmari High School ground in Kokrajhar fell silent as the 12th Adivasi Mahasabha session concluded on Sunday. Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Dr Rameswar Oraon attended the open session after BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary inaugurated it. In his speech, Mohilary said that BPF wants ST status for the Adivasi community in the state along with five other ethnic communities. He said that his party has been pressurizing the Centre for it.

Dr Oraon said that hoped that the Centre would grant ST status to all the 6 ethnic communities. MPs Biswajit Daimary, Shantiuse Kujur, MLAsPramila Rani Brahma, Chandan Brahma, Lawrence Islary were prominent among those who attended the open session.

 An identification camp for persons with disability was organized in association with National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped (NIOH), Kolkata at NTPC Bongaigaon Hospital, Salakati in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.
