Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi turns 82 on Sunday. The octogenarian chief minister is celebrating his birth day at his own official residence at Koinadhara in view of his ailment. Senior Congress leaders, cabinet colleagues, MLAs and party workers visited Gogoi to wish him on his birth day.

Meghalaya girl found dead in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A decomposed body of a girl from Meghalaya strikes no less sensation at a busy area in New Delhi on Wednesday. Identified with the help her Aadhar Card, the body of the girl was recovered from a flat in Munrika area in the capital city in the wee hours. She was working with a call centre. Police have registered a case to be investigated to ascertain the reason of her death.

4 officers arrested in APSC scam

GUWAHATI: The Assam police team probing the APSC scam has arrested four other officers on Wednesday two months after they faced handwriting test in Guwahati for forensic confirmation. NEW DELHI: The speakers at a national convention in New Delhi on Tuesday strongly opposed the ongoing process to update NRC alleging it an attempt to drive out from the state nearly 50 lakh linguistic minority people. SC slams RGI: Do NRC otherwise go?

NEW DELHI: In yet another embarrassment for the NDA Government at the Centre, the Supreme Court has asked the Registrar General not to halt the NRC process on the ground of panchayat polls.    Hearing an affidavit by the Centre on Tuesday, a division bench of the country’s apex court comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice RF Nariman strongly criticized the authorities saying that the panchayat poll procedure must not disrupt NRC process. They said if need be the government is free to hire officials from outside to conduct the polls.    They said if the RGI fails to do these he must quit the job but the entire process must complete within the time fixed earlier.
