Incentive to brilliant students in BTC

Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

Global FC from Gossaigaon defeated Bongaigaon XI Star 2-0 in the Tikendra Brahma and Aolang Brahma memorial football trophy being played in Sunday's match at Kagrabari ground in Kokrajhar.For Global, Arjun Mardi scored two goals in 9 minutes and 11 minutes and led the match 2-0 in the first half. Bongaigaon tried to equalized the match, but failed to goal in the game. Rising SC from Tinali is taking on Jothai SC from Gendrabil on Monday. 

Kokrajhar Rhinos lift premier league

Kokrajhar Rhinos lift BTC-Army Goodwill football premier league defeating Parbatjhora Panthers 4-1 in the final match at SAI ground in Kokrajhar on Sunday. For Rhino, Ashok Brahma netted his first goal in 8 minutes and Rakheb Basumatary scored another goal in 33 minutes which led the team 2-0 in the first half. Bipul Kumar Pathak and Rakheb Basumatary scored two more goals in 59 minutes and 73 minutes for the Rhinos while Dhrubajyoti Brahma of Panthers reduced a goal scoring in 80 minutes in  the second half and lost to Rhinos 1- 4 goals. Rakheb Basumatary of Kokrajhar Rhinos was awarded best player in the league. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary attended the award giving...

Dowdini beat SAI at Kagrabari

Dowdini SC from Debargaon beat SAI Kokrajhar 4-3 via tie breaker shots in the Tikendra Brahma and Aolang Brahma memorial football trophy being played in Saturday’s match at Kagrabari ground in Kokrajhar. Both team was goal less in the match.Later, organisers conducted penalty kicks where Dowidini beat SAI 4-3 goal.Gloabal SC, Gossaigaon is taking on Bongaigaon XI Star on Sunday.

No more gambling: ABSU

The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) of Kokrajhar dsitrict unit submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, Kokrajhar & superintendent of police demanding prohibiting organising of gambling and etc. at various melas during puja occasions in Kokrajhar  disrict.It was in a statement by Premjit Narzary and Nion Mushahry,secretary of the ABSU  Kokrajhar district unit. Former Assam Minister and prominent Bodoland People's Front (BPF) MLA Pramila Rani Brahma strongly reacted Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar's remarks on beef eating as "unfortunate and condemnable".Brahma, while talking exclusively to Assam Times has termed remarks from a responsible CM of a state of secular country is condemnable and unwanted in today's era. Ushering of Agriculture in BTC

An interactive session with central SFAC from New Delhi was held at BTC secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Manas opens up for tourists

 The Manas National Park opens up for tourists on Saturday. Bodoland Territorial Council Deputy Chief Executive Khampha Borgoyari opened the national park at a brief function at the Second Gate of Bahbari Range in the morning.More than 100 foreign tourists along with many other visitors were present in the function who later toured the national park which has been remaining closed the during monsoon season. It opens a bit earlier than the previous years.

Beefed up security in Kokrajhar

Security tightens in Kokrajhar district in the run up to the Durga puja celebrations which begins from Monday.Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Friday, SP Shyamal Prasad Saikia, said that police started gearing up checking of vehicles to thwart any attempt to disrupt the festival. He has policemen are on alert to deal with the anti-social activities like kidnapping, extortion, demands from the trader, employees and citizens from anti-social doers.He said that CCTVs would be installed in puja pandals to closely monitor the movement of people. 

Rising beat Jaiklong at Kagrabari

Rising SC from Tinali beat Jaiklong SC from Banargaon 4-2 in the Tikendra Brahma and Aolang Brahma memorial football trophy being played in Friday’s match at Kagrabari ground in Kokrajhar.For Rising, Bipul Roy scored first goal in 40 minutes and led the team 1-0 in the first half.For Jaiklong, Tomash Brahma scored two goals in 53 minutes and 53 minutes against rising in the second half. Bipul Roy netted another goal in 74 minutes,Biron Brahma and Mongal Soren scored one each goal in 71 minutes and 76 minutes respectively in the second half and defeated  Rising 4-2.
