Golaghat prepares for assembly election

Golaghat DC Anowarul Haque published the schedule of election in Golaghat district at a press meet held on Saturday. As per schedule stated that the notification date would be issued on March 11, 2016, last date for making nominations on March 18, scrutiny of nominations on March 19, last date for withdrawal of candidature  on 21st March, date of poll on April 4, counting of votes on May 19 and date before which election process would be completed on 21st May 2016 for the  1st phase General election to the legislative  assembly of Assam.

Giving brief note in respect of Golaghat election district DC said there are two LAC, 95 Golaghat LAC and 96 Khumtai LAC and 221 Nos. polling stations in Golaghat LAC and 158 Nos. in Khumtai LAC. There are 173145 voters in which 88590 are male and 84555 are female in Golaghat LAC  and 119294 voters in which 61110 are male and 58184 are female in Khumtai LAC. In the two LAC there are eleven zone and 35 nos. sector including 17 Nos. are considered as very sensitive zone, seven critical and 68 Nos. are sensitive zone.

Besides there are 775 D-voters with 376 male and 399 female and 702 Nos. are service voters with 483 male and 217 are female.  DC stated that new generation voters would be increased in the coming assembly election, he appealed cooperation from  public to smooth conducting the election.

Increasing rate of HIV infected persons in Golaghat shocked the people while Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital’s ICTC counselor revealed the information of increasing HIV infected persons on Thursday. The Golaghat police arrested two extremists on Friday night. Police recovered a pistol, three active bullets, demand notes, money receipts from them. The extremists have been identified as Rabul Bora of Kabaru Gaon and Dulal Lahon of Barpathar Tengani. Police said that the arrested duo are also car and bike lifters. The two extremists revealed that they have formed a new organisation named  ‘Asom Suraksha Bahini’.

With support of more than 3,000 people, the BJP candidate of 95 Golaghat constituency, Bitupon Saikia submitted his nomination in the Golaghat DC office on Wednesday. After the file submission, Saikia said that he would be paid more interest to new generation youth. He will be fought to resolve the burning problems  of Golaghat LAC. Later he said that his victory was almost confirmed in Golaghat LAC with  a 85000 votes out of 173145 votes.
Amid an escalating protest inside BJP, a few party leaders has floated Trinamul BJP much to the utter disappointment of the saffron party leadership in the run up to the assembly polls slated for April 4, and 11.  Disclosing this at a press conference in Golaghat on Friday, Trinamul BJP convener Biswajeet Phukan said taking the grassroot level workers' into confidence, they have floated the new party which would contest the polls.  Flanked by other conveners Bubul Dutta, Rebakanta Gogoi, Anup Kumar Baruah, Dinesh Bhelberia, Janadarn Hazarika, Phukan said that BJP has been failing to keep the promises where the common people have been bearing the brunt. 
A fire broke out at Golaghat town market on Sunday evening  gutted seven business establishments into ashes and crore rupees property destroyed. There were no reports of any casualty. About 12 fire engines rushed to the spot from Dergaon, Titabor, Merapani, Numligarh fire brigade station. It tool around two and half hours to stop the fire.
