Lakshmi Brahma crown Bwisagi Khungri
Lakshmi Brahma of Kokrajhar town crown 'Bwisagi Khungri, 2016' in the Bwisagu festival celebration, concluded on Saturday at Habrubari in Kokrajhar, was organized jointly by Kokrajhar Rongjali Bwisagu celebration committee and Bineswar Brahma memorial Rongjali Bwisagu celebration committee. Lakshmi presented her best Bwisagu dancing talent in the festival and won the crown, 2016. Tinu Basumatary of Kokrajhar town and Priya Brahma of Bishmuri were adjusted as first runners up and second runners up in the dancing competition respectively. Lakshmi was awarded a golden crown, cash 10001 and citation, first runners up and second runners up were given away cash 8001 and 5001 along with citation respectively. Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, Kokrajhar east MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary, Pulani Brahma, secretary of ABWWF, Jogeswar Brahma, secretary, DBHA, noted writer Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Satyapriya Brahma Patgiri among others were prominent attendees on the concluding day of the festival.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary laid foundation stone for constructing of multi-steroid super market complex at JD Road near Assam Oil depot on Friday in Kokrajhar. The super market complex would be constructed at an amounting of 3.75 crores under Non Lapsable Central Pool Resources (NLCPR) scheme in Kokrajhar town covering 243.87 Sq.m. to facilitate commercial hub in the district under the supervision of Kokrajhar Development authority, which would be constructed within two years. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary said his council has not been received satisfactory fund from government of India, which has facing hardship while maintaining in healthy administration. Mohilary, talking reporters on the side lines of a programme on Friday in Kokrajhar said that BTC council is receiving only 425 crores from government, which was not satisfied for the region. A NDFB cadre was killed at Choibari area following firing while were coming from Guwahati after producing in NIA case. On the other hand, Dahit Chandra Brahma was attacked by unidentified gunmen at Chandamari this evening in Kokrajhar.
