Bamboo bridge torch led public protest in Kokrajhar

Even though the government and district administrations never built any bridge to the welfare for the common publics of greater Chechpani area and failed to protect public property, unidentified miscreants torched a public built Bamboo bridge late last night in Kokrajhar district,which has led public throng to protest the incident on Thursday morning and demanded early inquiry into incident.

Hundreds of commuters from 5-7 villages of greater Chechapani area West of Kokrajhar town, thronged at bridge spot and expressed their anger and resented over the torched a Bamboo bridge built by publics along the Gaurang River by unidentified miscreants.

The bridge which has been facilitating daily through and fro for connecting peoples from greater Chechapani area to Kokrajhar district headquarter. The incident took place at Sashanghat along Gaurang River behind Railway Bridge in Kokrajhar late last night and suspected that it was penetrated by unidentified miscreants. Common publics from protested the incident and demanded early inquiry into incident to nab the involved culprits. Publics alleged that government and district administration have failed to protect public property and taking necessary measure against unwanted situation.

Jabhan Akandh,villager of Chechapani said, ‘Unknown miscreants torched the Bamboo bridge built by publics late last night in Kokrajhar,of which why commuters,school going children along the bridge have been suffered today’. It was unfortunate incident for the citizens,because the government and district administration never think building of bridge and failed to protect public properties. The involved culprits should be identify and punish as soon possible and make suitable connectivity for the commuters, he demanded.

Ranjit Das, another resident along the bridge expressed resented said that it was an act of anti-peace loving persons for the area. Communication for residents from all walks life was disrupted totally through the bridge following incident. He has demanded stern action against involved persons and punished.

Meanwhile,district administration and police official rushed the spot to take stock of the situation.

‘Investigation into incident is on and involved culprits would be nabbed in earliest’, said a senior police officer.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language. KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened  in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar. BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar. Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against  Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020.
