ANCC blocks National Highway
Adivasi National Convention Committee blockades National Highway along Karigaon in Kokrajhar district today demanded ST status to the Adivasi community, solve the militant issue and problems of the ceasefire groups of militant outfits of the Adivasis through political dialogue as soon as possible.
Hundreds of agitators with banner, placards blockade the national high way which have been affected road communication along the highways.
The ANCC, an umbrella organization of the ceasefire organization of the
community demanded early granting of STstatus to Adivadis, solution of the issue and grievances of the ceasefire of militant outfit organizations of the
Adivasi community.
The committee has warned for mass vigorous movement if their
demands are not meet. The government has been tactically delayed the issue of the Adivasis, of which why the ceasefire militant organizations deprived of solution of issues.
'We demand for granting of scheduled status to get uplift of Adivasi community, which is constitutional right', said Ambrit Beck, ANCC leader.

The 7th edition of the northeast Butterfly meet was concluded at Raimona National Park in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Executive Member for Forest & Environment Ranjit Basumatary inaugurated the event at Kachugaon.

Professor Indira Boro, head of the department of Bodo for Bodoland University, has been named for an award from the Sahitya Akademy for translation in Bodo language.
Dr. Boro has been named for the translation of her book Hirimba (originally written in Assamese by Jayanti Gogoi)

The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar.
The smuggled Ganja was bound for Bihar from Agartala in a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration no.BR 11V-7551.
