Luitpar Club initiative for book reading

Luitpar Club in Narengi Campus of Oil India Limited recently organized a unique initiative for encouraging reading habit among the residents, primarily the young people in the colony. The club supplied various books in Assamese, English, Hindi and Bengali language to the households under Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah mobile library.

The program was launched by journalist Nava Thakuria on 21 July in presence of Luitpar Club president, its secretary Narayan Majumder, senior members including Padmeswar Kalita, Haren Sarma, Jadav Kalita, Tapas Bhattacharya, Hira Rajbongshi etc.

NE United FC grooms Andre Bikey

Hero Indian Super League club NorthEast United FC have groomed Cameroon defender Andre Bikey as a replacement for injured Miguel Garcia hours before the commencement of the match in Guwahati on Tuesday.Miguel Garcia had suffered an Achilles Tendon rupture earlier this season, requiring a recovery time of 10 to 12 weeks. The 30-year-old Andre Bikey was a free agent having last played for England Championship side Charlton Athletic. 

Thaosen, 6 others to join BJP!

The date of joining has yet to be decided. Even after Thaosen quit the post, BJP has not formed it only because of the deal. They include Debojeet Thaosen, Kulendra Daulagupu, Denis Teron, Laljoshua Baite, Devojit Bathari, Samuel Changsan and Tushar Kanti Deb who have agreed to join BJP if they are allowed to remain in power.The sudden development took place a few days after the Debojeet Thaosen resigned after the Congress-led council was reduced to minority when 2 members joined BJP apart from three independents.   

Nita Ambani coming to Guwahati

A massive security is in place in and around Guwahati in view of VVIP visit to the premier north eastern city of on Tuesday. ISL chairperson Nita Ambani is scheduled to land the city at around 3 in the afternoon to attend the ISL match where NorthEast United FC are taking on Chennaiyin FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai.She would be accompanied by many dignitaries. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, a few of his cabinet colleagues are also likely to attend the match. All vehicles are being scrutinized on the road from Borjhar airport to Khanapara in view of the high profile visit to the city.

NE butterfly meet in Bornadi

Butterfly lovers across the north eastern region are waiting for October 25. The spotlight is set to fall on Bornadi wildlife sanctuary in Udalguri district. Gogoi blames Centre for price rise

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday blamed the NDA government at the Centre for skyrocketing price level. In his Facebook status Gogoi said, “NDA's inability to tame skyrocketing price rise has dampened the spirit of Durga Puja.” He hoped that the Centre would takes it seriously.
