Programmes carried out ahead of I-Day

Various programme and activities, which included awareness, capacity building were carried out in Kokrajhar district, in connection with celebration of 70th Independence Day on Sunday to mark national occasion under governments’ flagship programme to create awareness on national integration among society.

An workshop cum awareness programme on the topic of ‘Talk on Entrepreneurship’ was organized by District Industry & Commerce Centre (DICC),Kokrajhar in association with Kokrajhar Govt College at Science Gallery,Kokrajhar Govt College in Kokrajhar.

Hazarika told that awareness programme was organized to create aware about self entrepreneurship among citizens under government’s flagship initiative. Student and peoples took part in the workshop through which they would be benefitted while taking knowledge gaining,he added.

A health awareness meeting was organized by TB control,Kokrajhar under Health and Family welfare department at district jail among jail inmates. Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner,Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member graced the meeting. Agriculture department also organized workshop on emerging technologies,agronomic practices,seeds at Agricultural conference hall in Kokrajhar.Over fifty farmers from various places took part in the workshop and gathered knowledge.

Yet another case of double murder strikes no less anger and sensation in BTAD areas on where a couple was found killed inside their house on Wednesday. The incident took place at Salbari village in Bongaigaon where the bodies were recovered inside their house. Identified as Ganesh Barman and his wife Pampi Barman, they were  found dead with marks of injury. Local residents told Assam Times that Ganesh was believed to gave killed his wife before he committed suicide. Police and local residents broke the doors and recovered the bodies.

 A 50-day coaching camp for the Assam state Tchoukball was concluded on Monday at Haltugaon Tinali in Kokrajhar district. Altogether 24-players were participated across the state in the camp both for men and women team,who are selected to participate in the ensuing national championship  scheduled to be held with three-day programme scheduled from September 25 to 27 at Joypukhuri Bodofa Youth Club ground in Golaghat district.  Bodo community’s greatest novelist,Sahitya Pensioner Chittaranjan Mashahary has been hospitalised due to aillment two-day back at Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital. Mushahary has been suffering from multiple-diseases in his 76 years-old. He also face financial hardship for medical treatment.  Mashahary has been ailing since two-months back and passing the days without food. He has been admitted at Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital on Friday on serious condition. The Kokrajhar police probing the sensational priest killing case claimed to have arrested the main culprit on Thursday.  Identified asMojinur Islam, he was caught  from Surjyakata under Bilashipara poluce station in Dhubri district. His name surfaced during the interrogation of three other accused involved with murder case.   The priest was killed on September 10 by 2 am at Soni temple near Kokrajhar railway station before looting away ₹ 2.5 lakh in cash from Debnath’s possession.
