Nazira CPI joins protest

CPI leaders and activists in Nazira joined the statewide protest on Wednesday outlining the issues of price hike,   inflation, Flood and erosion.
Speakers in the protest meeting demanding immediate measures to mitigate the misery of the common people.
In his speech, national executive member   Kanak Gogoi said that the central government has been acting as an agent of the capitalists where the common people are bound to suffer.
He  said   the decision of the central government for 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) will be a
threat to the Sovereignty and urged the people to resist the move.

With the help of a few officials of the forest department, several illegal stone quarries and creasing machines are running at Lakshmijan and Bihubor of Nazira sub-division. Lakshmijan and Bihubor is famous stones quarries and the Govt. earns substantial revenues from these areas. But due to the illegal queries, govt is loosing revenue. Transit Challans are sold by shop keepers in front of the Forest Beat Office of Lakshmijan. On last March 16 forest department staged a few Illegal stone stocks at Lakshmijan.  
The government has claimed to be spending huge amount of money for development of the Assam-Nagaland border areas. But the real development is far away. People in the remote area of Gelakey border areas are living in a deplorable condition; Lahdoigarh, Sunapur, Borhollah, Singibill etc. of Gelakey border areas under Nazira sub-division are facing a lot of problems due to the lack of proper road, bridge, water, electricity etc. The so called Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme is not able to reach these areas till today.Nagaland has already occupied over 1000 Bighas of forest land of Assam. They have set-up one polling station at Borhollah in their recently held general election....
A number of illegal wine shops are seen in operation at Simaluguri Railway Station and its nearby areas. The concencerned authorities are not taking any action against the sellers so far. This inaction is also contributing to growing number of anti-social elements in this area.
The state convention of All India Youth Federation will be held at Tai Cultural Developnent Centre of Sivasagar on March 23-24, 2013. Central vice-president of AIYF Tapash Singha, former MP Durpod Borgohain, former central secretary of AIYF Pinkumoni Dutta, former state vice president of AIYE etc. will participate in the convention.
One leopard was killed by villagers at Sunapur, Gelakey in the Assam-Nagaland border area on March 11 evening. The leopard attacked a lady injuring serseriously.
Public protest is going on at Nazira against a person of Gargaon trying to buid a private road through the historic Bajgarh of Gargaon. Bajgarh is situated in the east side of  Karang Ghar, which was the capital palace of the Ahom Kingdom.  Several organisations condemned this and demanded for proper inquiry.
Cyclist of Nazia Anil Mahanta is attemping to enter Guinness World Record of short lapes 660 meter in cycling in 48 hours on the bank of the Barbaruah Tank, Nazira. This has started from last March 8.  Several hundrads people has been gathering at the venue to encourage and witness the historic cycling events.The programme is organise by the Nazira Cycling Association in association with the civil administration of Nazira.
Sivasagar district unit of AASU staged a dharna in front of the ONGC's main gate of Nazira on Thursday, demanding early establishment of much awaited Rs.100 crore multi-speciality hospital at Sivasagar. Over 1500 AASU activist from different parts of Sivasagar district were taking part in the dharna.  ONGC declared to establish a super-speciality hospital at Sivasagar 3 years back. Sivasagar district administration has already discussed with the ONGCL regarding  this project and offered land.
A team of the Excise offocials of Nazira raided in different parts of Nazira sub-division on Wednesday, including Charaihojia, Deopani, Athkhel, Aideobari and Deoghoria village and seized over 2500 litres of local wine, 5 liters foreign wine, 30 liter DPL and 6 nos. wine processing machines. In this connection 5 persons were arrested.
Eight persons were seriouly injured when a Sivasagar-Nazira bound bus fell in to deep paddy field at Kujibali Hanhchara, near Nazira at around 4 pm on Tuesday. The accident occurred when a speedy truck trying to overtake the bus.
