To resolve the burning issue of Assam-Nagaland border and reduce the tention among the people in the border areas, a harmony meeting was organised at Singibill Bazzar on Friday. The meeting was presideed by social activist Hemo gogoi, MP of Jorhat MP Kamakhya Tasa, DC of Sivasagar Narayan Kunwar, SP A.P.Tewari, SDO(C) Syed Zahid Chisty, SDPO of Nazira Rajendra Ojja, Nagaland Forest Minister P. Panchak, Ex.MLA Chami Aung, border adviser of Nagaland B. Uthi Phum. To maintain the historic harmony of Assam and Nagaland it was unanimously decided in the meeting to continue and exchange peace dialogue between the two states.

A new Anchalik AASU Committe of Nazira was formed in a general meeting on November Sunday. Hemanto Saikia and Sakir Ahmed were selected as the president and secretary of the committee. An illustrious son of Assam, Pronip Kumar Borthakur has assumed the charge of Director (Offshore) of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) on October 31, 2012. A large numbers of local guardians of DPS Nazira staged a dharna in front of the Head office of ONGC, Nazira on October 31, 2012. The allegation is that the school is going to abolish the Assamese subject from the school and exploiting the teacher, staff and students. A group of local residents of Nazira has formed a society called "Human Welfare Society" with a 13-member committee. P.C. Baruah and Md. Nasar Khan were selected as the President and General Secretary of the Society. The group has been extending their services since last 2006 for medical treatment to mentally retired persons n Nazira sub-division apart from other social welfare works.
Pragati Maina Parijat, Nazira organised a 15-day Children's Drama Workshop on July1 to 15, 2012 at Srimanta Sankardev Sanghs Namghar. More than 70 children took part in the workshop. Lakuwa reporter of Guwahati-based television chanel DY365, was physically assaulted by some miscreants at Bihubar, Nazira on Tuesday. They brutally attacked him and smash his camera. Different organisations including the Press Guild of Simaluguri, Nazira District Journalist Association, AASU, AJYCP, Amar Kotha Group, NGO PRAGATI etc. condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of culprits.
