Huge blockade hits transport

A huge road blockade on a vital road in the outskirt of Guwahati heavily disrupted transport services on Saturday.
Thousands of people in Kukurmora area near Boko blocked the National Highway No 37 a day after the Sarbananda Sonowal Government rejected erstwhile Gogoi Government’s move to create the South Kamrup district.
Trucks, buses along with other two and four wheelers on the road were forced to remain standred for several hours as the protesters refused to disperse from 10 in the morning.
 A crucial cabinet meeting on Friday evening abandoned the idea of creating East and South Kamrup districts considering the lack of  adequate infrastructure much to the major disappointment of the people.
