In yet another sordid tale of the government’s utter negligence towards the rural health sector, the Dakua Mini PHC at Purandia of Udalguri district, which was established way back in 1975, lacks proper infrastructure and staff.


The mini health care centre located at a distance of 10 km from Tangla town  is the lifeline for the people of the Dewar, Khokabasti, Tetalichuba, Kaulibhanga, Hahini, Majgaon, Gerua, Purandia, Bangaon villages facing a tough time in getting medical treatment who needs to visit nearby towns for treatment.


The mini PHC is currently functioning with a  Homoepathic doctor Dr. Utpal Sarmah  who officially needs to visits the centre twice a week while he allegedly visits once a week. Only oe pharmacist Bhaskar Jyoti Sarmah and a 4th grade employee Nagendra Kr. Nath regularly turns up in the centre for treating patients numbering 20-30 daily.


The doctor's post is still lying vacant since April 2016.
