Sukumar Basumatary remembered
The Bodo Sahitya Sabha recalled contributions of late Sukumar Basumatary,who is regarded as Bodo folklorist(Bodo Khuga Thunlaini Oja) towards growth of Bodo literary, on his 20th death anniversary on Tuesday. The anniversary was organized by Bodo Sahitya Sabha central committee in association with Baksa district Sahitya Sabha, held at Barama Murmela LP School ground in Baksa district.
As part of the programme scheduled, Jogen Ramchiary, president of Barama primary Bodo Sabha hoisted half sabha flag while Sahitya Academy awarded Janil Kumar Brahma paid floral homage to late Basumatary followed Sahitya Academy awadee Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Kamala Kanta Mushahary, general secretary, Dipak Kumar Basumatary, Biseswar Basumatary, vice presidents of Bodo Sahitya sabha, Mwnhashar Basumatary, Khrwmshar Basumatary, sons, Anita Brahma Basumatary, daughter in low paid floral tribute on the occasion.
A seminar on the topic of Spelling of Bodo language was also organized on the occasion to mark the observation.
Mentioned be made that Basumatary had compiled 22 books on Bodo folklore.
'Late Basumatary was a man of literary creation, who dedicated his whole life to the uplift of Bodo literary among Bodo community. His dedicated folklore literary creations today got syllabus in University education', said Janil Kumar Brahma.

Kokrajhar: The All BTC Sutradhar Sanmiloni demands formation of Sutradhar Development Council during their annual conference which concluded on SUnday. The 14th annual conference was held at Sahitya Sabha Bhawan in Kokrajhar. The conference discussed issues related to development of the the Sutradhar community.
Delegates from four districts of the BTAD region participated the conference. The Sanmiloni decided to put pressure on the state government for formation of Sutradhar Development Council as other scheduled communities are enjoying development council in the state.

Police in Kokrajhar have apprehended four cattle smugglers from two different places in Kokrajhar disrict on Thursday and seized several cattles. Police apprehended two cattle smugglers from Tulsibil under Gossaigaon police station and seized eight numbers of cattle from their houses.They were identified as Saheb Ali and Nayeb Ali of Rupsi village under Tulsibil police outpost.

Kokrajhar: A Pangolin (Banrow) was rescued at Bhotgaon this afternoon in Kokrajhar today. People from the greater Bhotgaon area thronged in large number to see the Pangolin, a rare species found in Chakrashila wildlife in Kokrajhar.
The Pangolin was noticed by local people inside a hole of a residential area at Bhotgaon under Kokrajhar Police Station and immediately informed to the Forest department.

Kokrajhar: A cadre of Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) was apprehended by security forces at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar disrict last night.
A joint team of Assam Police and Indian army carried out a search operation against the militant outfit organisation at the Serfanguri area in Kokrajhar disrict late evening and able to apprehend a KLO cadre along with arms.

Kokrajhar: Former BTC member of council legislative assembly (MCLA) Rajendra Narzary passes away on Sunday around 2.30 pm at a private hospital in Guwahati.
He was in his 50s.
He leaves behind wife Ajanta Narzary, a school teacher, two sons.
His body is being brought to his native place in Gossaigaon.
He last rites will be performed tomorrow.
Narzary also served as president of Gossaigaon unit All Bodo Students Union(Absu).
He was also associated with several organization in the area.
Kokrajhar: A massive fire has gutted at Dadgiri Bazar along the Indo-Bhutan border in Chiang district.
The fire broke out due to cylinder explosion at a hotel that engulfed to the nearby shops. 11 shops were destroyed in the fire.
The incident took place by 3.30 am in the early morning on Saturday.
The gutted shops includ rice shops ,crocery and few saloons.
Nearly 7 lakhs worth of properties reportedly destroyed in the fire.
