Dr Madan Mohan Reddy, senior consultant on orthopedic surgery from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai attended the 'Evening with a Doctor' program on Saturday (26 November 2016) at Guwahati Press Club (GPC). Over 25 GPC member-journalists along with their relatives participated in the evening OPD and got free consultations on various ailments like back-neck- knee pain, major fractures, arthritis etc. Apollo’s marketing officer Roopjyoti Baruah assisted in conducting the camp.
The next evening clinic on 3 December at GPC premises will be attended by eye specialists Dr Subhra Kinkor Goswami & Dr Bijuli Goswami of Sight First. The camp will begin at 4 pm and continue till 6 pm for the benefit of GPC member-journalists.
An unidentified object hovering around the sky in upper Assam pulled no less spell of curiosity among lakhs of people on Wednesday evening.Much to the utter surprise and curiosity, the comet like object was spotted in the sky in and around the Naharkatiya area at around 9 in the evening forcing the people to come out of their homes to watch the strange objects. An elephant and its driver were killed when a truck rammed into the animal on which three people were travelling on the national highway in Khetri area on Thursday. The tragic incident took place in the wee hours when the speeding truck hit the elephant as it was trying to overtake the tame animal which was coming from Sonapur to Jagiroad.The elephant drivers Kamal Boro and his Mohan Basumatary fell seriously injured. Kamal was shifted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to injury. Mohan is battling for life.Hours after it, the female animal succumbed to its injuries on the National Highway.

Kohima police deployed at Peducha check gate seized 300 kgs of contraband ganja worth 15, 00,000 from a person on Wednesday.Identified as Siddique Ali from Furkating, he arrested in Dimapur for possession and transportation of the contraband.
