A novel on conservation movement, penned by Pankaj Govinda Medhi, was released at Guwahati Press Club on Sunday afternoon. Titled ‘Charai Chuburi’, the novel in Assamese elaborates a distinctive part of the movement to preserve the forest & wildlife across Assam.
Published Banalata, Dibrugarh, the book was officially released by Phanindra Kumar Devchoudhury, editor of Niyamiya Barta, award winning author Bipul Deuri, conservation personality Soumyadeep Dutta and journalist Nava Thakuria. The program was moderated by Manjit Rajkhowa, who designed the cover of the novel.
Assam BJP leadership are believed to have been preparing a panel of senior MLAs to be finalized for the post of assembly Speaker in lieu of Ranjit Das who is set to take the rein of the state unit.Senior BJP leaders told Assam Times that they are considering the name of Siddharth Bhattacharya as suitable successor on the floor of the House. A moving train in Nagaon district crushed to death three wild elephants sending huge shockwaves to the animal lovers.The shocking incident took place at Kampur area in the morning when a train rammed into a herd of wild elephants as they came down from a nearby hill in search of food.The local villagers came to see the bodies only in the morning. “ As I was about to wake up I came to hear the horn of train. This was followed the cries of animals. But I could not afford to come out. Manipur might mire in yet another orgy of violence in near future as the Joint Council of Naga Civil Society has threatened to go to any extent alleging that the governments in state and Centre have disregarded the Naga peace framework. In a statement, the organization questioned the creation of three new districts Kongpokpi, Jiribam and Tengnopol saying that it would stock a massive anger and protest once again. A collection of adventure stories in Assamese named Kutkut-Tuktukar Abhiyan by journalist-writer Nilotpal Barua was released at Guwahati Press Club on Thursday. Published by Pratishruti Prakashan, the book comprises eight stories, which were earlier published in popular Assamese children monthly ‘Sofura’. The book was officially released by Rupam Barua, editor of Sofura in presence of journalists Nava Thakuria, Bedabrat Bora, Abinash Sharma etc.
