Maha Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar for Bodoland
The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland (P) and People Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) observed Maha Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Wednesday, demanded early solution to the long standing demand of Bodoland State and Political Right to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland area.
The ABSU and its allied movement groups carried out three-days continuous agitation programmes which concluded today beginning from December 12. The demands included resolving the Boro people’s demand for creating Bodoland state immediately under Article 2 & 3 constitution, ensuring political right to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland Area, protect, preserve and safeguard the identity of the Boro and other tribal people with language, culture and tradition by creating Bodoland state and wanting justice to live with dignity and honour in our inherited land.
The Bodoland movement programmes in New Delhi,an information letter was submitted to the Prime Minister and Home Minister by the movement groups.
Promod Boro,president of ABSU said the Boro people, an indigenous people of India living in Assam for being victimized to socio-economic exploitation, suppression, oppression and political domination are at threat of total extinction. Even after 70 years of India’s independence the state has failed to protect, Preserve and safeguard the land, identity, language and culture of the Boro people. Boro people are very much part of the great Indian community and are loyal to the Constitution of India. The Boro people want to live with dignity and honour under the provision of the Constitution of India.
He has urged government of India to take bold step while solving long standing demand of bodoland issue.
‘We appeal the Government of India to come forward with a pragmatic policy decision on the Bodoland Issue as it has already elapsed almost half century through agitation of different nature, which has taken a toll of more than five thousand lives. The movement groups are determined to continue the Democratic Mass Movement until and unless the Government of India concedes the demand’,the movement group said.

Kokrajhar: The Boro Peoples’ Front is decimated in Boroland Territorial Region where BTC poll counting took place on Saturday. The ruling party is losing at the hands of the resurgent UPPL and BJP, which ironically is BPF’s main coalition ally.

Baksa: A brisk polling is underway in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of BTR in the final phase of BTC polls on Thursday.
Amid tight security and COVID19 protocol, the voters in Chirang district are waiting in long queue in front of the polling booths from 7 in the morning.
Around 3.68 lakh voters are deciding on the fate of 34 candidates and the most of the seats have witnessed tight triangular contest of BPF, BJP and resurgent UPPL.

KOKRAJHAR: Schools have reopened from Monday after six months in Kokrajhar, heart of BTAD administration. On the opening day, attendance of the students are seen very thin in the schools. Students are allowed to enter the schools after having NOC from parents, wearing masks and hands sanitized. Thermal checking was compulsory.
A strict initiative from health and education departments have been arranged in the school entry gate.

KOKRAJHAR: Amidst the ongoing Governor's Rule in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), 29 employees of Transport department have been terminated on Friday(7th August, 2020) from their jobs by BTC Secretariat who were allegedly illegally appointed without any interview or examinations during the BPF ruled BTC administration in the council.
Among the terminated employees, 8 are assistant enforcement inspectors and 21 enforcement checkers under the Transport Department of BTC administration.

KOKRAJHAR: A Bathow puja was offered to Ganga goddess to get rid of protection from flood and erosion hit at Sikarbil village along the Gongia River in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. KOKRAJHAR: Former three-time MLA from Mazbat constituency and senior BPF leader Karendra Basumatary formally joined the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) at party office in Udalguri district on Wednesday.
