BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary said the Bathou is the aboriginal religion of Bodos through which Bodo community could be identified in the world. The All Bathou Religious Union observed Gwthar Bathou San (Pabitra Bathou Divos) with two-day programme scheduled at Baganshali Bathou Thansali in Kokrajhar on Tuesday in Kokrajhar. Mohilary offered his worship at Bathou Thansali on the occasion.
Mohilary attending as chief on the open session of the Gwthar Bathou San observation said that the Bodo community could be identified through Bathou religion in the world. ‘The Bathou is the aboriginal religion of the Bodos since immemorial of times. Bodos must worship Bathou religion and must keep alive of Bathou religious values so that language and cultures could be preserved’, Mohilary said. He has urged Bathou organizers to uplift the Bathou religious in the world.He has announced that BTAD administration for observing full pledged government holiday to mark Gwthar Bathou San on second Tuesday of Magh month every year from this year in the council area. He also said that BTC council has been deciding to be observed full pledged holiday birth anniversary of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma,noted social reformer of Bodos on April 18 from next year.
Mohilary, in his reaction over DN Chakraborty,noted journalist’s remarks over reconstruction of Assam excluding BTAD, Barak Valley in the state said, ‘It is his personal statement, I have nothing to say on this juncture.
BTC executive members Rajib Brahma, Doneswar Goyary,Sahitya Akademy awardee Anajli Basumatary were prominent attendees on the occasion.
A cultural procession was also carried out on the occasion where cultural troupes from Bodo,Garo,Rabha communities took part. Tikendra Basumatary,president of the Kokrjhar district unit of All Bathou Religious Union hoisted flag and Janamahan Mushahary,chairman of Ex BLT welfare society inaugurated the Gwthar Shi Baonai in the early morning.
