Livestock distributed

At-lesat 200 economically disadvantage families of Kokrajhar and Chirang districts given away income generating livestocks to generate income and make life better to endeavor in spheres of socio-economic development among poor and down trodden peoples in the region at a programme held at Sundari village in Chirang district on Monday.

The Believers Church Diocese of Bongaigaon, is an indigenous church with constitutional episcopacy led by Rev. Dr. KP Yohannan, the Metropolitan of the Church. The Church undertakes varied socio-economic developmental, educational, women empowering and social welfare projects without particular of caste, creed and language but to the most downtrodden and marginalized sections of the society.

The Diocese distributed 25 cows, 50 cloth weaving machine set, 100 pigs and 150 goats as income generating livestock and tools to 200 economically disadvantage families of Kokrajhar and Chirang districts undr community development project(CDP).

Diganta Baishya, additional deputy commissioner of Chirang graced as chief guest on the programme.He has lauded the ventures initiated by Believers Church said, ‘I appreciate the noble work of Believers Church for their tremendous effort to lift the poor and downtrodden by giving them some means to generate income and make life better than before’. He also appeal church to continue such work for this will not only develop people economically but also will strengthen the tie of brotherhood.

Rev. Fr. Ajay Tulsiary, the Vicar General of Diocese said that the Church would be very grateful if the given tools and livestock can make someone’s life better and meet the need. The church only seeks well of the beneficiary and do not endorse any religious lure,he added.

‘The church was working for the all round welfare of the poor peoples in the region’,Tulsiary said.

Sri Ranjan Doley, the Diocese Project in-charge, district parishpriestess and beneficiaries from Panbari, Amguri, Dadgari, Oxiguri, Thaikajora, Kongrajora, Sondari, Nohagaon, Jharbari, Bishmuri, Patgaon were present.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. The incident occurred along ride no. 1 under the Jharbari range of the Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district, where the smuggler was fatally shot while transporting logs on a cycle from deep within the forest. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
