ABSU vows to intensify mass movement

The new central committee of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) took swearing in ceremony today at a programme held at DRDA guest house in Kaziranga in Golaghat district.

The new body of the students union was formed with Pramod Boro,president and Lawrence Islary,general secretary along with other executive members of the ABSU at the 49th annual conference and golden jubilee celebration held at Janghkhrithai Pwthar recently in Kokrajhar.

Khungkra Swargiary, adviser of the students union,chaired the function and administered oath in ceremony, which was inaugurated by Naren Chandra Basumatary, SDO (Civil) Dhansiri and ADC Golaghat,Raju Phukan, organizing secretary AASU graced as special guest where representatives from the district committees of the ABSU were present.

The students union has vowed to work on for work dedicatedly for effective social change and development in the state among down trodden communities. The student union decided to continue vigorous democratic mass movement for immediate solution of Bodoland issue to meet good administration,observation of mass revolution on 2nd March as Bodoland Demand Day and intensifying the movement for solution of Assam state related several issues,which included education, textbook, forest right, land right Etc.

The Denkhwmu Se-Nwi-Tham,cultural competition organized by ABSU will be organized in the memory of great revolutionary singer Dwikhrong Khungur Basumatary by name ‘Dwikhrong Khungur Memorial Denkhwmu Se-Nwi-Tham’.

The course of Bodoland movement, in the 2nd March 2017 marked as the Bodoland Demand Day since 1987,when the then President Upendra Nath Brahma launched the mass democratic movement demanding separate state of Bodoland in the northern bank of Brahmaputra from Sonkosh to Sadiya,demanding the political rights and security for the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland in Assam. The entire village level anchalik committee ABSU will organize the mass gathering demanding statehood and submit memorandum reminding the government of India of the issue on March 2 next, which will be jointly organised by ABSU, NDFB(P) and PJACBM across the state, said ABSU release.

Minor girl rescued

A minor girl aged 14 years of Rajendrapur village, Sorailbil in Gossaigaon was recovered from Red light area in Siliguri, West Bengal on Tuesday. The girl went missing in July 11 last. The rescued girl is now the way back to Gossaigaon.

Ivory smuggler apprehended

Security forces apprehended an Ivory smuggler along with Ivories from Sudempuri area under Kachugaon PS in Kokrajhar district on Monday evening.According to police, based on an input about movement of smuggler, a joint team from Kachugaon police along with APR team of Kachugaon and 20 IRBN staff attached with Kachugaon PS launched an operation along the Sudempuri area late last evening around 5.15 pm. Woman killed in 'witch hunt'

A witch-hunting case was reported in Kokrajhar after recovery of body of an elderly woman at Sutarpara village, Balajan on Monday evening. Four culprits were apprehended in this connection. According to police, an FIR was lodged with police on Sunday about killing of an elderly  woman by miscreants from Sutarpara village at Balajan police outpost under Kokrajhar PS. Youth Festival begin in Kokrajhar

A three day Youth Festival with colourful programme starts from Monday at Simbargaon playground in Kokrajhar district. The festival saw huge participants from different parts of the district. The festival is being organized by BPF party in association with Youth BPF and Bodoland Students Union of Kokrajhar district unit. Bodies recovered

Bodies of an elderly couple were recovered from Sonkosh River side on Friday night who were dragged out of their home by unknown miscreants at Polashguri village in Kokrajhar district. According to police, a couple from Polashguri village dragged out and killed for suspected witch hunting, whose bodies were recovered from Sonkosh River today about 4 km from their village. They were identified as Jumon Hembrom (48) and his wife Sania Hembrom (40). Police arrested 25 persons from the village in this connection. Two ultras killed

Two NDFB-S cadres killed in an encounter with security forces at Simlaguri area under Amguri PS in Chirang district early Thursday morning. The cadres were identified as Lukash Narzary and David Islary. An Insas riffle, a revolver, grenade recovered from them.

Minors molested in Kokrajhar

Allegations arose against a fish trader in Kokrajhar town, who allgedly molested two-young maid servents. An FIR was lodged at Kokrajhar PS on Wednesday.
