Huge storm lashes upper Assam

Properties worth lakhs of rupees have been ravaged when a huge storm unleashed a reign of terror in upper Assam district disrupting surface communication in many places on Saturday.

Accompanied by heavy downpour, the hails storm hit Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Charaideo, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia in the afternoon which continued for around half an hour.

Many houses collapsed and many trees, electric and telephone posts were uprooted to block the vital roads. No casulaty is reported. But it would take time yo restore the surface communication network.
