Archer Gohela flies to Delhi for treatment

National archer Gohela Boro has been sent to Delhi on Saturday for better treatment. She was suffering from serious diseases since 4-5 months back. Many well-wishers, organizations have extended financial assistance to her.

Boro, a national gold medalist in Kerala National Games in 2015 in Archery has been suffering from SLE & ANCA diseases since few 4-5 months. She was first admitted to Gauhati Medical College in November last, but due to financial crisis, she was returned home on January 13 last. Since then she was bed ridden at her home till three days back.

Because of media reports about her ailment and financial hardships last week, many people came out for to help her. She would be admitted to Apollo hospital in Delhi.

Many well wishers rushed to the RNB civil hospital Kokrajhar before she left for Delhi this morning. She was accompanied by her sister, doctor along with three other members to Delhi.

Dane Boro, younger sister of Gohela thanked and expressed her gratitude to all those who made Goherla's treatment possible in Delhi.

Arms recovered

KOKRAJHAR: Security forces have recovered large number cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives inside Manas National Park (MNP) under Gavarukundha range near Panbari under Bijni police station in Chirang district on Tuesday morning. A joint operation was launched on Tuesday evening by Chirang Police in the general area of Gavarukunda inside deep jungles of MNP near Panbari and recovered huge amounts of arms, ammunitions and explosives on a buried condition. Sundaram to investigate SP EAC scuffle

Lower Assam Commissioner SS Meenakshi Sundaram has started investigation into the alleged scuffle between Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh And EAC Sailen Das recently at Gaurang Valley Hotel Kokrajhar. Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered an enquiry into incident after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. Sundaram arrived at Kokrajhar Circuit House on Sunday for investigation into the case. New political party forms in BTAD

KOKRAJHAR: A new political outfit was floated in Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD) at a convention held at Pathshala in Baksa district on Sunday. The newly floated political party has been named as Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) headed by Kokrajhar Lok Sabha MP Naba Kumar Sarania. The party has appointed ten executive members. In the meeting, BTAD army was also formed to work to the extensive services amongst all sections of the society. Sarania said that the newly floated political party will work for all round development of the region. He said that the party is planning to put candidature in all 35 seats in the upcoming BTC elections next year.

Daoharu Mungkhlong trophy begins

Kokrajhar: The 22nd edition of the Daoharu Mungkhlong Football Trophy 2019 began here at Dotma HS School playground in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. 10 teams from the state and West Bengal are participating in the competition. Teams includ Sunrise FC, Guwahati, Bhopal FC, Madhya Pradesh, Bilwgw Club, West Bengal, Nazira RH FC, Sibsagar, Barhoongkha AC, Kokrajhar, Global Football Academy, Gossaigaon, Eleven Star Bongaigaon, Dhupdhara FC, Goalpara, Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati and DASA XI,Dotma. BTC executive member Ansumwi Khungur Boro graced in the opening day as chief guest. In the inaugural match, Dhupdhara FC beat Bilwgw FC, West Bengal by 3-1 goals.

UPPL ready for election

KOKRAJHAR,SEP 21: "United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) is fully prepared to contest the upcoming BTC general council election to be held next year. There is no word of unification with ruling BPF", said UPPL president Urkhao Gwra Brahma. Brahma said this at a special convention of the Kokrajhar district unit of the party at Dotma UPPL party office in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Physical assault on magistrate in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: In a heart touching incident, Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh physical assaulted  EAC Sailen Das at a gettogeter inside a hotel in Kokrajhar as video of CCTV footages state. The incident has come into light after a video became viral on social media on Friday. According to sources, there was a get together organised by district administration at Hotel Gaurang Valley on September 9 where the incident took place.  Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered an official inquiry into the incident. RTI activist Dural Bora also filed a compalint in this regard with CID Assam on Saturday.  

ABSU expelled Rinjoy Boro

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) expelled of Rinjoy Boro from central committee for his anti organizational activities. In a press statement, assistant general secretary of the students union, Khwrwmdao Wary said the student's union after the cabinet meeting held on Friday has decided to take disciplinary action against Rinjoy Boro, who was one of the central committee ABSU, Secretary. Rinjoy Boro hails from Harisinga of Udalguri district.

Veterinary school inaugurated

KOKRAJHAR: BTC executive member Shyam Sundi inaugurated the extended campus of School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Titaguri in Kokrajhar district, on Thursday. 66 trainees, who are selected as veterinary field assistant (VFA) under veterinary and animal husbandry department are taking training in the school. Sundi said that the school is giving an opportunity to train students from  veterinary and animal husbandry in the region as well as whole of the state.He said that peoples from the region would be benefited from the school.
