Workshop on Paediatric Urology concludes

The Department of Urology, Dispur Hospitals Ltd successfully organized CME cum Video Workshop on Paediatric Urology on 6th May 2017. About 70 delegates from all over the North East India attended the academic programme.

10 guest faculties from across the country participated and delivered guest lectures on various aspects of paediatric urological ailments. Prof Amilal Bhat from Jodhpur, who is an internationally acclaimed authority on Hypospadias dealt at length about various surgical procedures. Prof. N. P. Gupta, former HOD, AIIMS , New Delhi ,who is the pioneer in popularizing robotic surgery in India discussed about the use of robot in paediatric urological problems. Dr Sajid Qureshi, HOD of Paediatric Surgery, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai spoke on Wilms Tumour which is quite common in paediatric age group. All other faculties including Dr V. Krishnamoorthy from Bengaluru, Dr Mallikarjun Reddy from Hyderabad, Dr Virender Sekhon from Gurgaon, NCR, Dr G S Kocchar from New Delhi, Dr Harprit Singh from Jamshedpur, Dr Shyam Baruah from Guwahati presented videos and talks pertaining to urological diseases in the paediatric population.

The inaugural function was attended by Prof R. C Deka , former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi as the Chief Guest. Prof A. K Barman , Director of Medical Education, Govt. of Assam was the Guest of Honour in the function. Prof Rajeev T.P, President , Assam Urological Society presided over the inaugural function. Prof P M Deka, Chief Consultant Urologist and Head of Department of Urology, Dispur Hospitals Ltd and former HOD, Dept of Urology, Gauhati Medical College delivered the welcome speech. Dr Santwana Bordoloi, M.D ,Dispur Hospitals Ltd ,herself a paediatrician and a national award winner for her films was felicitated in the inaugural function.

This was first of its kind CME dealing with Paediatric Urology organized in the whole of North East and East India.

A severe hailstorm lashed greater Raha and its adjacent areas of Nagaon district on Friday morning causing widespread damage by uprooting many mature trees,snapping power lines at many places.Many houses were also damaged in Amsoi,Gaspara,Balikuchi, Beltola,Salmara and Nakuchi by the hailstorm. Hailstones as large as tennis balls were reported, denting vehicle roofs and making people run helter-skelter for cover. Batadrava Police apprehended two bike lifters along with a stolen motorcycle on Thusday. The duo have been Identified as Azizul haque and Majibur Khaleq of Batamari village under Batadrava police Station, Nagaon. One stolen bike (no. AS 02 P 5512) from their possession was recovered which was stolen from Santijan Bazar on February 25. Interrogating is going on.
Union minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain on Wednesday Inaugurated a new campus of College of fisheries,Raha. The Campus was bulit at a cost of Rs. 16 Crore. Two suspected cattle thieves were beaten to death by a group of villagers at Kachamari in Nagaon district on Sunday noon.The one of the two deceased was identified as Rashidul haque,a resident of Juria, Nagaon while the other is still to be identified. According to sources, the locals saw two cattle thieves trying to flee after picking up a cattle from a field of Kachamari area.After a hot chase, they caught the two beat up them mercilessly, leaving them in unconscious state. One Bangladeshi migrant illegally residing in Langia village, Dhing in Nagaon district was arrested on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the person who was declared as foreigner by the Nagaon District Foreigners Tribunal. Identified as Iraj Ali, the foreigner came to Assam after 1971, was sent to the Foreigners Detention Camp in Tezpur.

Sensation prevails at Hatimuria, under Moirabari Police station, Morigaon on Monday when Bandhan Bank Moirabari branch staff Kuldeep Borah was allegedly shot at and looted by 3 motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants in daylight at Hatimuria Village. The miscreants fled with his bag containing bank's cash worth Rs. 1 lakh.
