Nagaon police bow down to mass pressure

The arrest of a person in connection with a kidnapping case triggers no less protest in Nagaon on Monday forcing the authorities to release him after thousands of people in Eleven Mile area hit the streets demanding unconditional release of the people whom they called innocent.

Local residents in large number blocked the National Highway No 36 at Eleven mile for a few hours disrupting surface communication on Monday.

According to the protestors, police have arrested Ramjan Ali on flimsy ground who was not at all involved in the incident. They threatened to go to any extent if the police refuse to release Ramjan.

A protesters also burnt tyres to block the road causing immense suffering for the commuters. The protestors dispersed only after police superintendent reached the spot and released Ramjan.
