A collection of short stories titled 'The Setting Sun', penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury, was released on Wednesday at Guwahati Press Club. Gracing the occasion educationist Dr Dayananda Pathak emphasized on more creative articles in English language from Assam. He argued that any literary work in English can attain the international audience and hence the young writers from northeast India should exercise their creative zeal in various internationally recognized languages.
Published by Eastern Book House, Panbazar, the book comprises fourteen Assamese short stories which have translated into English by the author himself. The meeting was also addressed by Padmashri Ajoy Dutta, Chandrajit Saikia, Nava Thakuria, Biman Chandra Hazarika, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Rupam Baruah, Bipul Sarma, Bhaben Goswami, Dilip Sarma, Anup Talukdar, Namrata Dutta, Abhiyan Prasad etc. The function was anchored by Ananya Bhumik, where a Guru Bandana was performed by Sneha Raychoudhury and Puja Deka in the beginning.
