Presidential polling in progress

Assam also joins the nationwide presidential polls on Monday in search of a successor of Pranab Mukherjee who demits very soon. 

The legislators have started coming one after another to the Assembly Secreteriat where polling took started at 8 in the morning to conclude at 3 in the afternoon.

BJP and it's coalition partners have favoured Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, while the non NDA legislators are set to vote for former minister and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. The results are expected this evening.
