Major fire reduces part of Janata Bhawan to ashes

A devastating fire that broke out in Dispur has reduced to ashes a part of the Janata Bhawan on Wednesday evening.

According to information, the fire broke out at around 6 in the evening from a room and later it was dispersing rapidly to other rooms before taking a ravaging turn. As many as fifty fire tenders have been called to extinguish the fire but by then the the situation was going out of control.

According to RTI commissioner Dr B K Gohain, the Right to Information cell has been completely ravged n not even as file has been spared.

Moreover, the chambers of Nurjamal Sarkar, law minister Pranab Gogoi, parliament secretries Sarat Saikia, Bidya Singfh Inglng have been reduced to ashes in the major fire.

The authorities have yet to ascertained the reasons behind the ravaging fire that has reduced the seat of power to ashes. Initially, electric short circuit is said to be the source of the ravaging fire but a high level probe will be able to unearth the truth behind the fire.

Isn't it convenient that the Right To Information (RTI) department was reduced to ashes. A similar "short circuit" happened when the veterinary scam was being investigated. all the scam papers were destroyed by a "mysterious" fire. This time I wonder how many corrupt government officials and ministers will benefit from this fire.

There's definitely more to it! I have my strong doubts about the 'high level probe that has been ordered. Wonder who and how many people are behind this??

Utter insecurity still persists in Guwahati these days. Preparation for ULFA-Govt talk gathers momentum on Wednesday. Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in Delhi. Sources told Assam Times that Gogoi met the home minister at 3 in the afternoon who assured him of all help required to ensure talk with ULFA. Gogoi formally urged Chidambaram to appoint former IB director PC Halder as the government interlocutor in the talk with ULFA. Halder has been interlocuting in the centre's talk with NSCN-IM.
